It's for the children!

From 2012 Little Hearts 16th Annual Picnic
 "A Celebration of Special Hearts"

While I normally do not advocate drinking to excess (you know, because I think we should all be alert with hyper intelligent mutated space monkeys [which were initially normal Earth monkeys that we shot into space] attack), in October I throw that rule away and drink an obscene amount of liquor.

It starts out as beer, but somewhere around bar five or six I forget myself and order something stronger. Then I start drunk texting and really wish I had remembered to put the difficult lock on my phone before I got started.

Wait. Where was I? Oh, yes.

I do this as part of a fund raising effort.

The charity, Little Hearts, Inc, has been helping kids who have congenital heart defects, and their families, since 1998. This US organization helps by offering education, support, and counseling to its members. The organization was founded by Lenore Cameron whose second son was born with congenital heart defects.

In short, they give individuals hope by bringing them together and giving the tools they need to survive the trying times in which they live.

Members of my community get together on the next to last weekend in October and have a pub crawl to raise funds. We ask for donations, all of which goes to the foundation. During the two and a half mile walk we stop at a number of local public houses. Each of these establishments also donates to Little Hearts.

Please help me help children. The event takes place on October 20th. A donation, however small or large, would help make a big difference in a child's life.
